Effective Tips -- How To Get Rid Of Love Handles

The holidays have come and gone, and the number one pressing question Americans are asking is how to get rid of love handles that stubbornly cling to our sides after the festivities are over? Sadly, just knowing that diet and exercise are good for you, doesnt seem to cut it for most of us. We all want a quick fix, something that works now.

The only way we truly know how to get rid of love handles, requires several months of dedication to the process. There is no quick fix for getting rid of fat that took months, or even possibly years, to put on. But by following the simple steps below, your body will finally figure out how to get rid of love handles that may have bothered you for years.

Cardio Exercise

While all exercise is great for your body and your health, it has been proven that at least thirty minutes of cardio exercise such as walking, jogging, and bicycling, at least three times a week is an effective tool in the search for how to get rid of love handles. The trick to working your oblique muscles, which is where love handles reside, is to find an exercise in which you rotate your upper torso while keeping your lower body straight. While there are a number of cute little machines out there on the market that claim to do this for you, I have found that sitting in a straight-backed chair while twisting my upper body from side to side is just as effective.

Cut Carbs

Okay, lets clarify that one. I am not advocating that diet where you cut out all of your carbs that everyone knows about. In fact, I am not only a firm believer that that particular diet is NOT how to get rid of love handles, but also that it is actually unhealthy for you. What I am proposing is simply cutting out one or two servings of bread or pastry each day. And you dont even have to cut them completely. Simply replace a normal serving of regular white bread with a serving of whole grain bread.

Turn Off The T.V.

Or the computer, or whatever it is that keeps you sitting on your backside. A loss of energy can be directly related to not getting enough exercise. So if you really want to know how to get rid of love handles, turn off your television and move! Increasing your activity level by just fifteen minutes a day, with a quick walk, a little vigorous housework, or even just a quick game of tag outside with the kids, will go a long way toward getting rid of those pesky love handles.

Eat More

What! Did I just say, eat more? Yes I did. Research has shown that an effective method for how to get rid of love handles is to increase your metabolism. This cannot be achieved through dieting. Dieting reduces your calorie intake, yes; but it leaves you feeling hungry, and more prone to binging or not following through. A much more effective method to increase your metabolism, is to eat six or seven smaller meals throughout the day. Not only will you keep your metabolism in high gear, but you will also find that you fill up faster, and so end up eating less!

No Matter what you have tried before, if it hasnt worked for you take heart. The combination of extra activity, increasing your metabolism by eating more often, and adding specific oblique targeting cardio exercises to your daily routine is the only effective plan for how to get rid of love handles.
